FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you have job leads?
Yes, job leads are available to all our participants. To access our job openings, all youneed to do is come in and sign up for one of our free services.

Are you a placement agency?
We do help people find jobs. As part of the Grossmont Union High School District, we can do this at no charge to you or the employer. Therefore, we don't operate as a placement agency...we operate as a free community service for you.

Can I come in and look at job leads today?
Yes. You may use the CalJOBS system, an Internet based job bank with thousands of statewide job openings. Additionally, we recommend that you attend one of our career center orientations offered daily at 1 p.m. to learn about many of our other no cost resources available to jobseekers.

Can someone help me with my resume today?
We can help you create a winning resume through our 5 day Job Search Workshop which runs Monday through Friday weekly. Resume samples are available in the multimedia resource room.

Can I use the computer to revise my resume today?
Usually we ask people to enroll in one of our programs. Once you have done that, you can use all of our services including access to job leads, free computer training and Internet access.

Is there someone who can type my resume for me?
We can help you put together a great resume and for people who are enrolled in any of our services we have a complete computer lab you can use to type your resume. However, if you need someone to type it, we can refer you to a local commercial resume service.

Do you have training?
For people who are ready to go to work, we train in job search skills. If you're not sure what you want to do, we offer career change workshops. For job-specific training we can refer you to no cost or low cost training.

Do you have on-the-job training?
We can provide on-the-job training if you meet certain guidelines. We have services for everyone, so the best thing to do is come to one of our daily orientations to learn about all of our services.

Can I use your fax machine?
Usually we ask people to enroll in one of our programs. Once you have done that, you can use all of our services.

Do you have bus passes?
Bus passes are available on a very limited basis for clients enrolled in specific programs.

Do you have computer training?
For people who are enrolled in our program and looking for work, we have computer classes to enhance skills and work on resumes. For more extensive computer training we can refer you to no cost or low cost programs.

Can I come in and get a typing test today?
We offer typing tests daily by appointment. Call 590-3900 to set up an appointment.

I heard you can get me a job.
Absolutely...we can sure help.

Why do I have to fill out a registration form if I just want a typing test or job leads?
As part of the Grossmont Union High School District we are able to offer you these services free of charge. All we need you to do is complete some quick paperwork. Completing a simple one page form entitles you to access our services for the next year.
